Good morning, Committed ChoirFolk-
What a fun rehearsal last night! It’s very nice, in some ways, singing in room A, isn’t it? Clear, present sound- lots of feedback for you; and singing so much a cappella is very good for us- shows us all right away how solid we are, and where the work needs to happen. When you have a great accompanist, it’s too easy to become dependent, and very revealing when we sing without that support. The fact is, you sounded very good indeed, lots of focused energy, and tight ensemble- and now we need to transfer that same focus and ensemble feeling to our singing in room C.
Chores: please firm up anything at all insecure in the Introit (“Love is the Spirit”) and “Shine on Me,” for Sunday. See you at 8 sharp.
Saturday night: Chalice Concert, 7 PM- the Mendelssohn Trio, superb piano trio. And thanks for bringing goodies- our receptions are famous!
Sunday: please do come to the after-service coffee hour (with Choir buttons- TBA- and stoles), to just hang around, meet more of our UUCC civilians, recruit a bit for Choir and support the folks at the Music Ministry table, get your tickets for the Latin Touch concert and buy some Michael and Choir CD’s. And after second service, do go to Laurie Coltri’s workshop– info from her to follow.
Signups for the Rideout Choral Workshop, May 5; and the Union Service rehearsal and service, May 6. A goodly number of folks signed up for both last night- thanks! If you weren’t there, or didn’t sign up, and can come to one or the other (both would be best), please drop me an email today, and I’ll add you to the lists. Going to be great fun, and very good for our singing!
