FOR CHALICE CHOIR:
Good morning, All-
I wanted to give you a chance to begin early on Plenty Good Room– a fun, high-energy way to begin the ChoirYear. We haven’t done this in several years. Even though you won’t get your scores until Thursday, it would be a really good idea, time permitting, to get used to the feeling of the piece, especially its rhythms. And the parts sound files are of course already posted on the Choir Website. Any questions about how to access those? Please let me know now.
NOTE FROM LAURIE – the YouTube track is EMBEDDED in this post, at the bottom.
This recording is pretty fast- there are some other on You Tube that are a little slower and might be easier to learn the sound of the piece from.
We’ll also sing Welcome, Welcome, which most of us can probably sing off-book, or learn really fast.
See y’all Thursday!
FOR CHALICE SINGERS:
Good afternoon, esteemed Singers/Swingers-
Go to be an active and fun “semester” yet again on the Chalice Singers front: 3 or more Sunday service numbers, and 2-3 numbers on Christmas Eve. And maybe one number in the Christmas Oratorio- TBA.
Question: anyone not able to be here this Sunday, Sept. 9; or on Christmas Eve?
This coming Sunday we’re singing Plenty Good Room, and I’m thinking that the best way to deal with the solo sections and the short learning time is to ask y’all to sing the solos: altos and sopranos on the treble-clef solos; tenors and basses on the bass-clef solos. The final solo section (p. 11 especially) is high for altos- feel free to take some of that down an octave. A YouTube recording (one of many- you might enjoy checking out some of the others too) was sent this morning, and the parts-files are posted on the Choir website; you’ll get your scores on Thursday, of course.
That sound like fun?
See y’all Thursday- thanks!
